Crate is the worlds first internet accessible web server running on a handheld.

There are no other apps that can do what Crate can do. Crate is the first, on any device, on any platform. Welcome to the next generation of apps.

Crate is a music player and remote control system that can be controlled by any web browser on the internet, or on your local network.

When you run Crate, you choose your channel at syndicate.com, secure it with a key of your choosing, and flip the syndicate.com switch, and you are immediately running an Internet accessible web server that allows your music player to be remotely controlled, and your music to be browsed.

You choose your channel, and thats whats used to access your device over the Internet at syndicate.com.

For example, if you choose iPhone as your channel, you can access your device at
http://iphone.syndicrate.com.

Your device is the web server. It is as simple as that. If you turn it Crate off, then your web site is down. If you start it up again, its back. Syndicrate.com integration is free to use for a limited time.

When a Crate server is running, any device with an HTML5 browser can:

- Remotely control whats playing on your device, and set the volume, and scrub
- Get access to the music in your library
- Browse and playback your music
- See and add to your playlist
- Nothing but the above features are accessible remotely
- The Internet accessible UI and the local WiFi UI are identical

Your iPod speaker dock is not complete without Crate. No other app does what Crate can do. Want to let your friends help with music selection? Crate takes requests.

Crate blows the other remote control, and Jukebox apps out of the water because it has more advanced technology. it does not need to be installed on every device. It works on almost everything, without needing to install anything on clients. Its also faster. And it does more.

Crate can be remotely controlled by any device with an HTML 5 capable web browser because it has a built in web server to talk to other devices on your private network.

When you connect into it, you can browse the library, push songs onto the playlist, and play tracks locally, and fully remotely control the server.

You only need to run Crate on one device, and all other device anywhere in the world can talk to it. There arent any other apps out there that can do what Crate does, and Crate does it easily, smoothly, and quickly.

Arent you tired of buying remote control apps that you have to install on all of your devices to get them to do anything? Then, you need to buy the equivalent for all your devices platforms if you want to use them together, assuming its even available. All of this, only to have to spend time keeping them all on the same version so theyll work. And you have to be nearby.

Forget that nonsense. Buy Crate once and be done with it!

Crate also works just like the built in Music app, so theres no reason not to trade up to it.

If you connect with a browser that supports m4a audio, (like Safari or Chrome) you can listen to music files on clients that connect in, as long as the files are not DRM encoded. Try it out and see. It plays nice with phones, tablets, and computers.

Crate works best on devices with an A5 chip or better. Older devices work, but may take a little longer to convert some music files to stream.

Check out my other app if youre interested in software development, or want to support small independent developers.

It shares lots of the Crate DNA, so its equally awesome. Its called Server, and if youre a programmer wanting to try something new, its for you.
